Trump Tower $350K jewelry, Two Tower residents allegedly lost $350,000.
Two residents of Trump Tower in New York City have reported thefts of tens of thousands of dollars in jewelry in recent weeks.
A 67-year-old women who lives on the 42nd floor of President Trump’s namesake building on Fifth Avenue reported five pieces worth $236,000 were stolen from a drawer in her closet while she was away between June 21 and Sept. 9.
The jewelry included a Harry Winston diamond bracelet, a ring, necklace, and bracelet made of diamonds and sapphires, as well as a pair of diamond and emerald earrings, police said.
A 33-year-old woman said her $117,000 Graff diamond bracelet was stolen from her 59th-floor apartment after she went on vacation Sept. 3. The woman, Isabelle Bscher, reported the missing bracelet on Sept. 11, the day after she returned home.
Law enforcement told the New York Post there were no signs of a break-in at either residence and insurance fraud is not suspected. The report said both incidents are suspected to be inside jobs and police are compiling a list of everyone who had access to the building.
Trump owns a penthouse in the building and lived there before moving to the White House in 2017. The president returned to his New York pad Sunday to attend the United Nations General Assembly this week. Ahead of Trump’s arrival in Manhattan, security around the building had already been increased.
